Table Mountain National Park, nature straight up

A hike up the Western Cape mountain will reward you with an unparalleled view of the peninsula.

The ‘face' of Table Mountain indeed has its expressions; it seems to be smiling kindly when the sun is out, but becomes almost worrying once plunged into the shadows or in the black of night. The mood of Cape Town and its weather indeed depends, in part, on this mysterious mountain overlooking the city. Are there clouds running along its flanks like a snake?

Get out your umbrellas! Table Mountain is announcing rain. Now part of the New7Wonders of Nature, as chosen by a global poll, the base of this magnificent mountain reaches all the way to the foam of the ocean. The Table Mountain National Park covers 220 square kilometres from Signal Hill in the north to Cape Point in the south. You can take the Cableway that has climbed to the summit since 1929, or lace up your boots and walk. In this case, allow for at least two and a half hours and get ready for some muscular pain the following morning!
