John Anthony gives dim sum a kick

Canton and Sichuan meet under the guidance of the most British of all Hongkongers. Revisited dim sum and barbecue await!

In 1805, John Anthony became the first Chinaman to receive British citizenship. The restaurant carrying his name thus pays tribute to a cultural crossroad, between London's East End and 1920s Shanghai.

In an elegant setting devised with an ecofriendly mindset, paralleling the evolution of Chinese society, get ready for a surprising culinary journey: it is quite a tricky mission to try and transform Cantonese cuisine, at it is mainly based off traditional recipes, but John Anthony passes the test with style. Revisited dishes include dim sum (grilled Iberian pork belly served with marinated seaweed) and barbecue (Australian Wagyu char siu with a green onion sauce) and meet in Sichuan for some spicier flings.

This sophistication finds its completion in an incredible gin collection, perhaps the most extensive of the entire former British colony. A must for all spirit lovers.
